There is quite blatant case of an N-generation photocopy of the French manga of Ranma 1/2 that spawned a mistake that lasts even today. Shampoo's weapons were referred as "bonbon" maces, due to their round shape and brightly colored exterior, like a bonbon. The multiple instances of photocopying "broke" the final "n" and made it look like a "ri". And thus is how the misterious Bon Bori mace came to be.
